
Lois Ann (Riley) Eaglin Casassa, 87, of Brazil, Indiana went to be with the Lord on October 3, 2020.
She was born on May 11, 1933, in Brazil, Indiana, the daughter of Paul and Gladys (Nicoson) Riley. Lois graduated from Brazil High School in 1951. She married Richard O. Eaglin in 1952; he preceded her in death in 1984. Later, she married James D. Casassa on November 10, 1988.
Lois worked for Commercial Solvents, WWCM Radio in Brazil, NATCO, and then retired from The Brazil Times.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Brazil. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women of Brazil. Lois and Jimmy looked forward to spending the winter months in Gulf Shores, Alabama for several years. They also spent lots of time at the Casassa cabin on the Big Walnut Creek with her husband, friends and family. Lois enjoyed golfing and was involved in the Ladies Golf League. She enjoyed fishing, bridge club, bowling, playing Dominoes with her friends, and attending small group Bible Study.
She was lovingly known by many names including Lois, Mom, Mammy, Gigi, Pooch, and aunt Poochie.
Lois loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the life of every gathering with her distinctive laugh and voice.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Gladys Riley; first husband Richard Eaglin; three sisters: Wilma Jean Riley in infancy, Betty Swearingen and Rita Jo Pyle.
She is survived by her husband Jim Casassa; two sons: Brad Eaglin and wife Janet, Jeff Eaglin and wife Bridget; two step-sons: Troy Casassa and wife Lisa and Chad Casassa; grandchildren: Whittney Rains (Matt), Cale Eaglin, Starrla Eaglin (Matt), Daniel Eaglin, Brett Casassa (Carey), and Leah Casassa (Garrett); great-grandchildren: Callie Rains, Carter Rains, and Hallie Casassa; one sister Linda Sue Tipton; sisters-in-law Loretta Pierce (Al), Lila Jones, Margaret “Dood” Kennedy, and Mary Ann Trout; brothers-in-law Jack Casassa (Pat) and Jim Pyle as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from 3-7 pm at Lawson – Miller Chapel 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834. Services will be at the funeral home, on Thursday, at 11:30am with Pastors Chris Gregg and Mark Grayless officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
