Eleweis Meakin, 92, of Brazil, passed on Saturday, November 28, 2020 in Westminster Health and Rehab in Terre Haute. She was born on September 25, 1928 in Brazil to John H. Meakin and Hazel E. (Wools) Meakin.

Eleweis was a 1946 graduate of Staunton High School. She was a retired bookkeeper with the Clay County Welfare Office after 27 years of service. Earlier in her life she worked for the former Simplicity Pattern Company in Terre Haute. Eleweis was a lifelong member of the Staunton First Christian Church.
She loved to be surrounded by little children. She was a lady of few words but always got her point across.

Eleweis was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel Meakin; her brother, John Forrest; Cousins, Marilyn (Howald) Lucas, Nancy Howald, Earl and Betty Adams.

Survivors include cousins, Ralph Howald, Becky (Howald) Drada; many second cousins; and second cousin and caregiver, Angie (Drada) Galenski.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 AM Thursday, December 3, 2020 in French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Avenue with Pastor Rick Swan officiating. Burial will be in Summit Lawn Cemetery.
