Barbara Cheryl (Smith) Newsome, 74, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away December 6, 2020.
She was born April 25, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Homer Smith and Iola (Reuter) Smith. She was raised in Sullivan County and graduated from North Central High School in Farmersburg.
Barbara was a loving and caring mother of four children, Jami (Galenski) Owen, (Brad), Joe Frank, Jorge Frank and Jessica (Robinson) Fuller, (Rob), all of Terre Haute.
She worked hard her whole life raising 4 children as a single parent.
She worked at ALCAN for several years, then Eli Lilly, and retired from Walmart.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; a grandson Chandler Loehmann; and siblings Earl Smith, Commodore Smith, Ed Smith, Bob Smith, and Betty (Smith) Compton.
She is survived by her siblings Nancy (Smith) Anderson, (Paul) and John Smith, (Anita); grandchildren Braden, Jordyn, Brailey, Josie, Brianna, Olivia, Colin, Alexandria, and Dilana; great grandchildren Kinley, Kohen, Kallie, Karsyn, Maverick, Brinzley and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In honoring Barbara’s wishes, cremation has been chosen, and no services are scheduled. Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Greiner Funeral Home.
