Penelope “Penny” L. (Blaker) Mitchell, 75, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly, on December 14, 2020 while staying at Silver Birch Assisted Living Center.

Penny was born on August 24, 1945, in Blackhawk, Indiana, the daughter of Max and Betty (Ray) Blaker. She graduated from Honey Creek High School. Penny worked as a writer for the Tribune Star for many years and won many state and national awards. She was an amazing writer who loved writing biographies. Amongst her accomplishments were Walking with Daniel and Mother Theodore Guerin A Woman for All Time.

She loved to read and listen to music.

She was preceded in death by her parents Max and Betty Blaker; sons Johnathon Ruiz and Ray Ruiz; grandson: Jonathon Brown; brother Gary Blaker.

She is survived by her children: David Blaker and fiancé Christine Niemeyer, Joseph Ruiz, Mary Ruiz and Shawn Todd, Rachael Loffer and husband Bryon Loffer; grandchildren: Max Ruiz, Hannah Todd, Hunter Todd, and Miss Lillian as well as multiple grandimals.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 4-7pm.
