Dennis Ray Sawyer, 71, lifelong resident of Brazil, Indiana, passed away at Union Hospital, on December 29, 2020 following a short battle with cancer.
Dennis was born on September 7, 1949, the son of Robert and Alice (Parr) Sawyer. He graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1967 where he excelled at track and football. Later he attended Vincennes University.
Dennis managed various restaurants before beginning his career at Harbor Graphics. He retired after 20 years of service to the company.
Dennis was a sports fanatic. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Dennis volunteered as a coach at the YMCA and Clay Youth League for many years. He enjoyed playing golf, playing billiards, and traveling.
Dennis was a past member of the Sons of the American Legion and Jaycees’.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Alice Sawyer.
Dennis is survived by his wife Jill whom he married on April 6, 2007; 4 children: Chris Sawyer and wife Melissa of Terre Haute, Scott Sawyer and wife Shavawn of Poland, Beth Mount of Brazil, and Becky Kohler of Seelyville; grandchildren: Ainsley Sawyer, Cayden Sawyer, Reed Sawyer, Kash Sawyer, Madison Kohler, Trayton Kohler, Andraya Mount, Tyler Kohler, Breanna Kohler, and Bryson Kohler; 4 great-grandchildren: Carson Kohler, Benjamin Montgomery, Reilly Montgomery, and Elijah Montgomery; a sister Barbara McGranahan and husband Larry of Dickson, Tennessee; nephews: John McGranahan and wife Kay, Jeff McGranahan and wife Susan, and Jamen Mcranahan and wife Lee Ann as well as many extended family members and friends.
Services will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on January 2, 2020 at 3:00pm. Visitation will be at the funeral home, on Saturday, from 11am until time of services. Burial will be held at Cottage Hill Cemetery.

In light of the current COVID restrictions face coverings and social distancing will be required.
