John Joseph “Joe” Kleptz, 94, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away December 12, 2021 surrounded by his sons and daughters-in-law. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, on January 4, 1927, to Andrew Kleptz and Barbara(Heber) Kleptz. Joe married JoAnn Henske October 29, 1948 and at the time of her death in 2015, they had been married 67 years. Joe served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946. He retired from Pfizer in 1987 after working there nearly 40 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He also held membership with the American Legion. Joe enjoyed traveling with his wife, and often times they would be gone for 3 months. Joe had visited 49 states and 8 provinces of Canada. He enjoyed antique cars, camping, Street Rod Shows, and helping his kids and grandkids. He is preceded in death by his wife JoAnn (Henske) Kleptz, his parents, his step father Harry L. Clark, son Tim Kleptz, siblings Frank Kleptz, Jim Kleptz, Chic Kleptz and Mary Ann Wheatley. Joe is survived by his sister Marge Gallian of California. He is also survived by sons, Mike Kleptz ( Patricia), Pat Kleptz (Joan), and Dan Kleptz (Janet) all of Terre Haute; daughter-in-law Karan Kleptz of Goshen IN; grandchildren, Ben Kleptz (Kim), Jeff Kleptz, Joe Kleptz (Angela), Kevin Kleptz (Jenifer), Brian Kleptz , Kyle Kleptz (Amber), Holly Phoenix (Adam), Kevin Kleptz ( Ashley), Janice Bontrager (Bryson), Michelle Davis, and Michael Hollis (Ginny); 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, December 20, 2021, at 12:00p.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2322 N 13th 1/2 St, Terre Haute, IN 47804. Visitation will be at the church on Monday, from 10:00a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Greiner Funeral Home. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Hospice of Wabash Valley or a charity of choice.
