William ‘JR’ Ellinger Jr was born on August 28, 1951 in Terre Haute to William P Ellinger Sr and Rosemary Lawerence Ellinger. JR passed away on February 7, 2022 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was preceded by his parents William and Rosemary Ellinger Sr, his siblings Caroline Unraw, Daniel Ellinger, Jerry Ellinger, Janet Ellinger, and his beloved granddaughter Courtney Dailey. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Betty Peters Ellinger, his daughters Cathy Daliley (JV), Stacy Jones (Paul), his stepchildren Nicole Norris (Dwight), William ‘B’ Norris II (Kim), his grandchildren Justin Dailey, Chassity Nickols (Aaron), Pamela Jones, Gage Norris, Karli Norris, his great grandchildren Bricilin Dailey, Trinitee Kennedy, Presley Jones, Jordan Jones, and Mason Nickols; also siblings Brenda Gess (David), Max Ellinger (Donna), and Donna Uhey (Mark).

JR is a current member of The Plumbers and Steamfitters Union #157. He retired from the Terre Haute Wastewater Utility where he was employed as a Maintenance Supervisor for 30 plus years.
JR loved life and lived it on his terms. He loved time spent on the lake with his wife and family. There was not a Nasacar race he missed or didn’t enjoy. He spent many weekends on the Wabash river with the good ole boys camping, fishing, and drinking beer. Jr’s old school wisdom and witty comments will be deeply missed by all who loved him. JR was an animal lover who enjoyed time spent with his many canine companions through the years.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Greiner Funeral Home in Terre Haute. Services to follow at 1:00 pm.
The family requests donations be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
