
Wilma Jean Burns, 93, passed away May 9, 2022 at home with her daughter and son in law. Wilma was born to the late Ollie Ernest and Jessie Florence (Martin) Butler on October 6, 1928 in Clay County.
Wilma was a 1946 graduate of Staunton High School. At age 18 Wilma went to work for McCurdy Decorating Center where she worked up until age 75 when her dear friend and owner of the store Robert Dix passed away. On April 19, 1952 Wilma married James Joseph Burns who preceded her in death in August of 1980. Wilma loved to gamble, especially when it came to Poker. Family was very important to her, she enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, siblings: Cleo, Geneva, Dorothy, Mildred, James, Edward, Lester, Ray, and Ben.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Sheila Jones (Frank), grandchildren, James Jones (Dawn), Eric Jones (Becky), Ben Jones (Deanna), and Kristina Durant (Tony), great grandchildren, Kennedy, Kortney, Sterling, Avery, Kinsley, Ben, Taylor, and Dustin Jones, Andrew, James, and Anthony Durant, one half-brother, Ollie Butler (Linda), stepbrother, John Pettit (Kitty), step sister, Emily Morales (Wayne).
A visitation will be held Saturday, May 14th from 12-2 PM at French Funeral Home, 421 East National Avenue in Brazil. A funeral service will begin at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
