This week we are speaking with Elaine Bedel, CEO of Indiana Destination Development Corporation.

The HHP allows businesses in the travel/leisure/hospitality/retail related industries to make a promise ensuring they are taking proper safety measures to protect their employees and customers. In turn, consumers are encouraged to make the promise too, pledging a commitment to keeping Indiana healthy and in return receiving a digital pass for discounts and promotions at participating businesses.

Trust for America’s Health (TFAH) and their The State of Obesity: Better Policies for a Healthier America . The annual report provides state-by-state rankings of adult obesity rates, information on trends by region, age, gender and ethnicity, and policy recommendations for local and state government.

This year the U.S. adult obesity rate passed the 40 percent mark for the first time, standing at 42.4 percent – the highest ever recorded, an increase of 26 percent since 2008.

Indiana ranks 12th on the list. Reha Farberman talks about the study.
