Paris Man Files Suit Against City And Police

PARIS, Ill.  – A lawsuit has been filed against three Paris Police officers and the City of Paris, Illinois.

An attorney recently filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of Charles Holt who claims that the three officers broke the law and violated his rights in June of 2017.

Holt said that a woman drove to the Paris Police Department after he told her to leave his house. The documents state Holt followed her in a truck.

When officers learned his driver’s license had been revoked they allegedly then went to Holt’s home.

He says that he refused to let them in without a warrant but they forced their way in, tased him and then arrested him on several charges.

In January he pleaded guilty to Disorderly Conduct, and Driving on a Revoked License.

Holt claims that officers Jesse Lewsader, Richard Wilson, and Ryan Washburn, violated his rights since they did not have a search warrant and he did not consent to their entry.

Holt is asking for a jury trial and is seeking legal costs and punitive damages.
