Vermillion County Police Bust Teen Alcohol Party

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind – Last Saturday (10-6-18) around 1:00 A.M. Vermillion County Police r conducted a traffic stop on two suspicious vehicles at the intersection of Lake Rd and S. Bud Dr. just south of St. Bernice.

Officers say that the driver of the first vehicle was suspended (infraction) and the license plates on the second vehicle were expired.

During the stop police say that passengers in both vehicles were in the area attempting to locate a party.

Officers found that party when they located several vehicles parked in the middle of the road on Bud Ln.

Police also found a female (juvenile) that was holding on to the edge of a nearby cliff.

Several party goers tried to flee although when they realized the young girl needed help several returned.

Also, officer’s found that a girl had fallen approximately 60′ down an embankment and came to a sudden stop resting against a tree. Officers were able to reach the juvenile and rendered first-aid until medical help arrived.

Officers located a second victim, a juvenile who had a possible broken ankle after attempting to flee law enforcement. She was also treated at the scene until medical personnel arrived. She was transported to Union Hospital of Clinton where she was treated and released.

After talking to party-goers, authorities discovered that the first juvenile had been drinking and had fallen off the cliff approximately 30 minutes prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Authorities also discovered that they left the injured Juvenile there with no concern for her safety.

The intoxicated and injured juvenile was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis via helicopter due to alcohol poisoning and injuries sustained in the fall.

There were 13 arrests and they were given citations to appear in court.
