TERRE HAUTE, Ind  – The Vigo County Capital Improvement Board (CIB) met Wednesday morning and renewed it’s commitment to a new convention center.

The board is adamant that it be located in downtown Terre Haute.

The board indicated a new convention center will be free standing and it will not be attached to the Hulman Center but it could be located near it.

The board has released a conceptual drawing from CSO Architects of Indianapolis.

Right now the board says that a location has not been selected.

Even though they have a drawing from an architect as to what it might look like the board will still need to see what properties might be available and what utilities and other infrastructure is near by.

The board will host a public hearing on a proposed food and beverage tax for Vigo County on Monday July 2nd at 5 p.m. at the Vigo County Annex.
