Terre Haute Man Sues Police Alleging Excessive Force

TERRE HAUTE, Ind – A Terre Haute man is suing the police department claiming unjustified use of a deadly weapon, perjury and slander or defamation of character related to testimony November 2017 trial.

In 2015 Terre Haute Police were called to the 2100 block of Cleveland Avenue.

Officers found 28-year-old Quintin Towles Jr on the front porch of a home with a gun threatening to shoot a person in the home.

He refused to drop the weapon and was shot by police.

A report in the Trib-Star says that Towles Jr., has filed suit in Vigo Superior Court against the department, Vigo County and two polic officers.

He is seeking $250,000 in damages, disciplinary action against the officers and an apology.

Towles Jr was sentenced to 11 years in prison after being convicted of burglary, criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement and carrying a handgun without a license.
