PARKE COUNTY, Ind – Over the summer, many improvements and changes were made to the North Central Parke schools while getting ready for the 2018-19 school year.

In addition to the new name for the high school and middle school levels to reflect the name change to Parke Heritage, major improvements were also made to increase safety and security measures.

Superintendent Dr. Thomas Rohr said that new controlled entrances were installed to provide a more secure access to the buildings at the elementary schools which means that everyone has to be buzzed in to allow access.

Other improvements completed over the summer include installing a  new heating and air conditioning systems at the middle school, safety improvements in the science labs, additional fencing  around the Turkey Run Elementary School playground, and a complete renovation of the  locker rooms and restrooms in the middle school.

To keep up with the name changes there are also new logos on gym floors and a new mural painted at the middle school and other signage changes.

School officials say that there is more to be done and that will be completed over the course of the school year.
