Bennett Tells Chamber Things Look Good For City

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett gave an update on the city to the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce Thursday morning.

Bennett gave a positive outlook saying that with about $90 million in the budget for 2019, there are ways for the city can invest in itself.

He gave an update on the bonding process for the new downtown convention center and how it is moving forward.

Bennett did say that right now we are waiting on the city council to vote to vacate 8th Street, that’s in addition to working out utilities for the project.

Bennett also said that we should know more in the coming weeks on the possibility of bringing a casino to Terre Haute.

The mayor said that city drivers will have more to look forward to in improving local streets.
