WILL COUNTY, Ill. – The 2,246 medically preserved fetal remains found in the Illinois home of deceased Indiana abortion doctor will be turned over to Indiana for further investigation.

The remains, preserved in formaldehyde, were found in plastic bags at the home of Dr. Ulrich Klopfer, who died Sept 3.

The remains were dated between 2000 and 2002, which coincides with the time Klopfer was performing abortions at clinics in Fort Wayne, Gary, and South Bend, Will Co. (Illinois) State’s Attorney James Glasgow said Thursday.

The remains will be turned over to Indiana for an investigation by the Attorney General’s Office.

Raids at the clinics where Dr. Ulrich Klopfer performed abortions in South Bend and Ft. Wayne, turned up no fetal remains, but agents from the Indiana Attorney General’s office found boxes of medical records, and are now working to see whether those were disposed of properly.
