TERRE HAUTE, Ind. –   A Wabash Valley family lost their home to fire Monday afternoon.

The Terre Haute Fire Department responded to the home on Kussner Street just before 1:30 p.m.

First responders took several people to the hospital after the south side fire.

Officials say that they fire has been ruled accidental and was apparently caused by an unattended candle.

Several people were checked out for minor injuries and a dog also suffered burns.

The house is considered a total loss.
