Vigo School Board Cancels Two Meetings And Schedules Another

TERRE HAUTE, Ind—The Vigo County School Corporation is cancelling its scheduled April 20 and May 4 meetings and scheduling a business meeting on Thursday, April 30.

The April 30 meeting will include some regular business for the school corporation to continue operations. The school board will also be acting on a resolution that will help the district respond if June 30’s property tax revenue is less than expected. The state of Indiana recently announced a 60-day property tax grace period for May 10 payments. The district will seek financing options if this delay in payment will cause cash flow issues for the district.

The scheduling of an April 30 meeting—instead of the April 20 or May 4 meeting–is due to timelines for understanding financing options with local banks and the Indiana bond bank.

The school board will also consider the Capital Improvement Board’s sale and lease offer on the central administrative building at 686 Wabash Avenue.

The Vigo County School Corporation is encouraging public comment on matters before the board. Public comment can be sent via e-mail to april30meeting@vigoschools.org.

A format for the meeting will be announced later.
