UPDATE: Thursday Night Car/Bicycle Accident Near West Terre Haute

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Just before 8:00 p.m. Thursday (05-28-20) evening Vigo County Sheriff’s deputies were called to an accident between a vehicle and a bicycle.

It happened on the U.S. Highway 40 grade on the east side of West Terre Haute.

Sheriff John Plasse says that both the vehicle, driven by Ronald Heyen of West Terre Haute, and the bicyclist, were westbound on US Hwy 40 at Paris Av.

The bicyclist was struck from behind as it attempted to merge to the right onto Paris Av.

The bicyclist was airlifted from the scene by helicopter and transported to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The condition of the bicyclist is currently unknown.

WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  — A car / bicycle accident last night (Thursday 5/28/20)  in western Vigo County.

It happened at the U.S. 40 and Paris Avenue split on the east side of West Terre Haute.

One person on a bicycle reportedly suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
