Rudolph J Stakeman, 96, of Terre Haute, IN, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at his residence with family by his side. Public graveside service to celebrate Rudy’s life with Military Rites , will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 29th at Roselawn Cemetary in Terre Haute. Griener’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.

Rudy was born December 7, 1924 in Terre Haute, IN the son of Joseph and Ethel Stuckwish Stakeman. He married Phyllis Diehl on November 30 ,1946. Rudy retired from Standard Register Printing Company. Rudy and Phyllis were married for 67 years before she proceeded him in death in 2013.

Rudy enlisted in the Marine Corp at the age of 18 and served and fought in the Marshall Islands during WWII. His favorite pastimes were hunting, photography, bowling and coaching his son’s Little League baseball . Rudy was an excellent swimmer. He enjoyed telling stories, jokes and took up golfing after retirement. He truly enjoyed traveling with his wife.

Surviving are his sons Rudy (Sandra) of Tennessee, Randy (Dara) of Terre Haute, Bruce (Maria) of Anchorage Alaska, daughters Ethel (Gregg) Thomas of Decatur, IL, & Phyllis Ann (Rusty) Glosser of Marshall, IL, 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Rudy was proceeded in death by 2 brothers, 4 sisters and 1 granddaughter, Stacey Stakeman Muncie.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lincolnland Hospice.
