Lois Elizabeth Cassidy, 89, passed away October 17, 2023. Lois was born to the late Raymond and Bessie (Jordan) Thomas on November 24, 1933 in Mecca, Indiana.

Lois graduated from Mecca High School in 1951. Throughout her life, Lois was deeply involved in a variety of community organizations. She was a dedicated member of the Home Ec Club, where she nurtured her passion for homemaking arts. At the Penial United Methodist Church, she found spiritual fulfillment and a sense of belonging. Lois was also a committed member of the Royal Neighbors and the V.F.W Post 1127 Women’s Auxiliary. Her active participation in these organizations reflected her selfless spirit and her dedication to serving others.

Lois had a creative soul, which she expressed through her love for sewing and quilting. Her beautiful, handcrafted creations were cherished by her friends and family, serving as tangible reminders of her skill, patience, and love. Lois also found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed the thrill of the game. She also loved puzzle books, which kept her mind sharp and provided countless hours of entertainment. Lois was famous for her homemade noodles. Family was very important to her and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband, James “Hoppy” Cassidy, and two brothers, Harry Thomas and Virgil Thomas.

Lois is survived by her son James Michael Cassidy and wife Holly; 3 daughters: Terri Kay Myers and husband Jim, Jacqueline Diane Hanson and husband Jamey and Lori LeAnn Cassidy all of Brazil; grandchildren: Michael D. Cassidy and wife Amy, Matthew Cassidy and wife Brittany, Katie Phillips and her husband Darin, Crystal Stearley and husband Randy, Jennifer Cassidy, Logan Cassidy and his wife Billie, Alan Dickison and Girl Codie, Jessica Dickison and Zach, and Emily Dickison and Cody, 21 great grandchildren, one sister, Patty Edington and her husband Ron, as well as several nieces and nephews, and her granddog Luci.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 25th from 11-2 at French Funeral Home, 421 East National Avenue in Brazil. A funeral service will begin at 2 P.M. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the V.F.W Post 1127 Women’s Auxiliary, 303 South Depot Street, Brazil, Indiana 47834.
