Charles Raymond Schroer, 82, passed away February 1, 2024. Charles was born to the late Clifton and Nila (Campbell) Schroer in Bowling Green on September 23, 1941.

Charles graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1959. He worked at CBS Records for 23 years. He was a life long farmer and began farming full time after his retirement from CBS. On August 6, 1960, Charles married his wife, Janet Marie Stevens. Charles was very involved in the Bowling Green Old Settlers Horse Pull. He loved antique tractors where he would often take them to the Indiana State Fair and drive them in the parade. Charles most prized possessions were his Farmall and his Silver King which is the tractor he learned to drive. In his later years, Charles loved fishing with his best friend, Jerry Hart.

His grandkids were his pride and joy. He loved attending his grandson’s baseball games and watching his granddaughter cheer in high school. In his younger years he enjoyed coon hunting with his son. He served on the board for the Owen County Fair. Charles was a volunteer fireman with the Patricksburg Volunteer Fire Department. Charles was a member of Bowling Green Community Church, formerly Bowling Green United Methodist Church.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Oren Lee Schroer.

Charles is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet Schroer, one son, John Schroer (Jenn), two grandchildren, Juliann Marie and Jackson William, brothers, Merrill Vernon Schroer (Mary Jane), Owen Dee Schroer, Robert Lynn Schroer (Patsy), and a sister, Mona Ruth Howard (Garry) and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 6th from 11-1 at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 East National Avenue in Brazil. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Laura Wells will begin at 1 P.M. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green.
