
Norma Eileen Shaw, 83, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away December 5, 2022, with her loving family by her side. She was born April 15, 1939, in Greencastle, Indiana, to Fred Atkison and Ruby (Hendrix) Atkison. Norma attended Terre Haute Central Presbyterian Church and Eastside Church of Christ. Norma enjoyed going to church with her husband; together they rarely missed a Sunday. Norma sang in the Vigo County Extension Chorus. She was also a seasoned Registered Nurse. She graduated from Union Hospital School of Nursing in 1960 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Indiana State University. From there, her career grew, and after 38 years of employment at Union Hospital, she retired as Director of Surgical Services. After retiring from Union Hospital, she worked at UAP Clinic for 10 years. Norma was an archivist at Union Hospital. She also volunteered with Kids Hope, where she mentored and tutored at Devaney elementary. She held membership with Nightingales and was an avid traveler and sports fanatic. Norma is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lowell Shaw; her children Glen Shaw (Lisa) and Mary Bauer (Tom); grandchildren Audrey Shaw, Dean Shaw, Jessica Bauer, and Zachary Bauer (Mariah); great granddaughter Lakelyn Bauer; and sister Elizabeth Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Charles Atkison. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, December 12, 2022, at 11:00a.m. in Greiner Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Riggins will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 11, 2022, in the funeral home, from 1:00p.m. until 4:00p.m.Wabash Valley Nursing Honor Guard will perform a service in her honor to close out the visitation. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Union Health Foundation.
