
Gerald L. Wardenburg, 88, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday August 3, 2021 in Gibson Family Hospice Center in Terre Haute. Gerald was born February 28, 1933 in Carbon, IN to Dennis Wardenburg and Martha Chaney Wardenburg. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a Senior Master Sergeant. He retired from The Air National Guard, he often said it was the best job that he could have ever asked for. After retiring from the Air National Guard, he worked as a driver for Wolfe’s Auto Auction. He enjoyed many trips while with the Air Guard, he traveled to Hawaii, Michigan, Washington, Las Vegas, Georgia, Massachusetts and Norway just to name a few. He held his private pilot’s license and flew his family on many trips. He was a member of the Air Plane Club and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, bowling and golf. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jean Ann Tribble Wardenburg whom he married in September of 1957, they would soon have celebrated 68 years of marriage. He is also survived by two daughters; Nelda Johnson (Kenny) and Wilma Stepp (Kevin). He is survived by one son, Dennis W. Wardenburg (Cindy). He is survived by one sister, Carol Sue Case as well as seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several close cousins, nieces and nephews. Services are Saturday August 7, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow services on Saturday at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to Gibson Family Hospice Center, envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
