Keen Promoted To Chief Of THPD

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – On Monday, Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett announced that current Assistant Chief Shawn Keen will be promoted to Chief on January 1st.

He will take over for current police Chief John Plasse who was elected to the office of Vigo County Sheriff in November.

Keen has been assistant chief since 2008 and has been with the department for nearly 21 years.

Keen is a 1993 Terre Haute North Vigo High School Graduate and a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran, where he served as a Military Police Officer.

Chief Keen is an active member of the FBI National Academy Associates and both the International and Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police.  Chief Keen and his wife Shelly have two children; Kelsey and Brendon.

Lt. Matt Carden will be the department’s new assistant chief.

He has been with the department for 23 years.
