TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – A suspicious device was found at a Terre Haute motel on the city’s south side Tuesday afternoon.

Police say an employee found an item Monday at the Motel 6, but they weren’t sure what it was.

Employees contacted police Tuesday.

They determined that it appeared to be some sort of pipe-bomb-like device so the Indiana State Police bomb squad was called in.

The Indiana State Police later determined it was firecrackers taped together and there was no need to detonate the device.

Police are continuing their investigation.
