ROCKVILLE, Ind – On Thursday (1/2/20) Rockville Police announced the passing of Officer Rodney Smith.

In a social media post the department said that Smith had served in many positions including Reserve Officer, Patrolman, Assistant Chief, Chief, and patrolman.

Smith was a veteran of the Army National Guard and had served 20 years at a volunteer with the Rockville Fire Department.

 

The 62 year old Smith passed away unexpectedly early Thursday (1/2/20) after battling flu-like respiratory issues.

Services will be held Monday January 6, 2020 at Gooch Funeral Home with Visitation starting at 11A until 2PM service. Burial will be at Memory Garden in Rockville with Graveside Services.

Smith is survived by his wife Linda, two daughters Alisha and Tiffany and three grandchildren.
