Stephen Darrel McCain, 80, of Terre Haute passed away in his home on May 20, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.  Steve was born on November 23, 1939 to C. Stacey McCain and Anna Lee Basham-McCain.  Steve is preceded in death by both parents; brother Thomas Lee McCain; brother-in-law Carl Laybold, as well as his great-grandaughter Kaydence Dycus and his great-grandson Dewey Jeremiah White.  He is survived by his loving wife, Janice; children Darrel R. McCain (Kellie), Karen Todd (Lonnie), Monica Hendrix (Joe), and Teresa Babyak (George); sisters Joan Hamilton, Yvonne Laybold, and Linda Bonness; grandchildren Amanda Blake, Darrel R. McCain Jr., Justin Todd, Jacob Todd, Jarett Todd, Tasha Griffin, Brittany Pribble, Ryan Pribble, Amber Turnbull, Audrey Lewis, Amanda Wilson, Jeremy Babyak, Justin Babyak, and Brandi White, as well as 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Steve graduated at Otter creek in 1958, he then proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He became a member of World Gospel Church in 2002.  Steve was a very hard worker, but he knew how to enjoy life.  He retired from Alcan after 37 years. He loved to hunt, fish, work in the yard, and garden.  Steve loved to go to the river, and he also loved traveling to Holmes County, Ohio making many Amish friends.  He also raised his own beef and was an excellent horseman too.  The most rewarding ministries for Steve were the 6 years he spent doing maintenance for World Gospel Church and working many Emmaus Walks.  There will be a visitation for Stephen on Wednesday, May 27 at World Gospel Church from 10:00 AM-1200 PM with services starting at 12:00 PM.  Burial at Highland Lawn Cemetery will follow.  Pastor Alfie Austin will be officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that if donations are considered please make them to either World Gospel Church or The Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
