Lucy ” Faye” Elder, age 96, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023. She was born on September 25, 1927 in Hazard, Kentucky to Justice and Elizabeth Bowling Begley.

She worked at Columbia Records, and then obtained her cosmetology license and had been a hairdresser for many years.

Faye was a 49 year member of Kerman Daughters of Mokanna, a 50 year member of the West Terre Haute Eastern Star Lodge 428, and was a member of Hearts at Home Extension Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years, Delbert “Dee” Elder; her twelve siblings; a son-in-law, Jim Giffel; and a great-grandson-in-law, Chandler.

Surviving are her daughters, Dorinda York and husband Bart, of Indianapolis, and Deborah Giffel and companion Ken Johnson of Terre Haute; four grandchildren, James Giffel and wife Cari, Heather LeBrun and husband Monty, Tiffany Reitcheck and husband Ray, and Troy York; 12 great-grandchildren, Brianna Wilkes and husband Kiley, Victoria York and husband Dwight, Brooke Dailey and husband Andrew, Cody Dailey, Molly LeBrun and fiance Randall Grayless, Luc LeBrun, Jacob Reitcheck and fiance Teagan Mott, Zoe York, Lucy York, Rylan LeBrun, Skylar Giffel, and Ava York; seven great-great grandchildren, Jacob Rinehart, Jaxxson Braxton, Ryder WIlkes, Lucas Rinehart, Bronx Braxton, Reis Wilkes, and Lux Braxton; several nieces and nephews; and a special granddaughter Sophia Geelkerken and family from the Netherlands.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 1 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, with interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11 AM until time of The Daughters of Mokanna service at 12:45 P.M. in Honor of Faye’s Life.
